The Flower on the Rock

(Teacher's Poem)

flower, yellow flower on the rock, rock flower
Flower on the rock,
You flower on the rock,
How lovely is your appearance!
Though there is  not a thing for you to eat or drink on that rock,
What is it that you eat to make you so attractive?
You pretty flower wearing such bewitching make-up,
What did you do to render your face so lovely?
And how sweet is your fragrance!

You nearly died of dehydration under the hot, scoring sun last summer.
And then, how did you suspend yourself onto the rock during such tempestuous weather?
And how you cried all night, quivering, trying to endure the snow and wind...

Nevertheless, now you throw away all the painful and sorrowful,
     tormenting memories of yesterday,
Not voicing a word of complaint to anyone.
And rather, you impart the wonderful love of God,
Of Him who guides and raises you, who gently clothes and sprays perfume on you.
You testify of His love to the entire world with your beguiling dance and smile,
And your lovely heart's seed lives on.

Today, I have learned from you docile heart and personality.
Now, I too will forget my bone-aching pain inflicted by enemies of yesterday,
And I will spread the love of my Daddy who has raised and guided me up to now,
Whose selfless love has made me the happiest person in the universe.
With a gentle smile and personality , I will ve His witness, forever and ever.
